Printed Manual

A manual in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF file) is included as part of the Observer installation. You can access it by clicking the Start button, then Programs, Observer, Observer Manual. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system in order to open the manual. If your system does not have Acrobat Reader, you can download a free copy from http://www.adobe.com/.

Printing the Manual

The manual is approximately 25 pages. You will have a nicer manual if you print the pages back-to-back on a laser printer. An ink-jet printer may suffice, but the screen shots in the manual may not be as clear, depending on the quality of your printer. The following steps will help you accomplish back-to-back printing in Adobe Acrobat Reader. You may have to modify some of the steps, depending on which version of Acrobat Reader you are using, and what printer you have.

1.Determine which side of the paper your printer prints on. To do this, draw an X on the front edge of the top sheet of paper in the paper tray, then send a short print job to the printer. Notice whether your sample document printed on the same side as the X or on the opposite side. Also notice if your X is at the top or bottom of the document.
2.Place a sufficient quantity of paper in your printer.
3.Open ObserverHelp.pdf in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
4.From the menu select File, Print.
5.On the print dialog box, select Odd Pages Only from the Print drop-down selection box.
6.For Print Range, select All Pages.
7.Click the OK button.
8.When the odd pages are finished printing, place them back in the paper tray so that the blank sides will be printed on. Refer to the sample sheet you created in step 1 to make sure you have positioned the paper correctly.
9.From the menu select File, Print.
10.On the print dialog box, select Even Pages Only from the Print drop-down selection box.
11.For Print Range, select All Pages.
12.Click the OK button.
