smtplightconfig

When the Configure button is clicked on the bottom of the e-mail window, the configuration window shown above appears. The configuration is copied from the teacher setup screen. This gives you a way to review or change your SMTP mail server settings temporarily without having to go to the teacher setup screen or make any changes to your normal setup. Changing the settings in this window does not change them in the teacher setup. For an explanation of the fields in this window, see the teacher setup screen.

AOL Note

AOL does not use standard SMTP to handle outgoing mail. They have their own proprietary methods. A search of this topic on the Internet will reveal that many third party programs that generate e-mail (such as Grade Point) have trouble coping with AOL as a service provider. Many of them recommend switching service providers, or at least getting an additional free service provider in order to be able to use the e-mail features of other programs. Try searching the Internet for "free internet service provider."
