Minimum Recommendations

Grade Point is a data-intensive application. On slower, older machines you may see slow database performance when data is being loaded or saved. Although there are no absolute hardware requirements, and Grade Point will run on any system that has at least Windows 95, the following table displays minimal system recommendations for acceptable performance.*

Operating System
Windows 95
Networking Protocol
TCP/IP
Memory
32 mb
Processor
233 Mhz
Video Resolution
800 x 600
Available Hard Drive Space
9 mb

Working From Floppy Disks

Although Grade Point's database will fit on a floppy drive, it is not recommended that you use a floppy drive as your primary data location. If you do, you will seriously degrade the performance of the program. Reading and writing data to floppies is one of the slowest operations you can ask your machine to do. In addition, floppy disks are one of the least reliable storage mediums. They are fine for keeping a backup or for transporting data from one machine to another, but please do not use them as your data source.

*With a minimal system as outlined above, performance will be improved by turning off some features. See the topic Increasing Grid Responsiveness for further information.
