Help for the Current Window

helpbtnlarge If you see a button like the one on the left, you can click it to go to a main help topic that explains many things about the window you are using. You may also find an item on the window's help menu that will take you to that window's help topic.

Popup Topics

whatbutton If you see a button like the one on the left, or you see this small button in the upper right corner of the window helpbtnsmall, you can click on either to make the mouse cursor change to this: helpcursorsmall. When the mouse cursor looks like that, you can click on a control to get a popup description of what the control does. Many menus also have a choice called What's This? that will allow you to do the same thing. You can also press the F1 key to view a pop up help topic related to a control you have clicked on.

Popup Hints

If hints are enabled, you can hover your mouse cursor over a control (don't click) to get a popup hint about the control. The hint will last a few seconds, then disappear. You can enable or disable popup hints by selecting Show Hints from the View menu on the main window.

Adjusting the Hint Duration

You can adjust the amount of time a hint remains visible by selecting Hint Duration from the View menu. The control you use to enter a value has an edit mask that looks like this __._ when no values have been entered. Enter the number of seconds you want hints to remain visible. The value after the decimal is optional. An entry such as 3_.5 is not a valid entry. Probably someone who would enter this is really trying for 3.5 seconds, which should be entered as _3.5. Three seconds can be entered as _3._ or as _3.0. Entering 0 seconds has the same effect as disabling popup hints. If an invalid entry is made, Grade Point will display an error message and use a default time of 2.5 seconds until you correct the error.

Accessing this Help File
