Ancient History

Version 6.4

  • Added feature to "anonymize" student data. This feature removes students' personal data and substitutes generic data. This eliminates privacy concerns when sending data to help diagnose a problem you are having.
  • Added feature to copy assignments from one subject to another.
  • Fixed a bug where an error message might appear after creating a new database and opening its subjects for the first time.
  • Fixed a minor rounding error, where a student's grade might be reported incorrectly. For example, if a student's average was 89.99, the program would give the student a B instead of an A after rounding the average to 90.

Version 6.3

  • Added feature to fill scores down columns or across rows.
  • Added feature to globally search and replace scores.
  • Added feature to export grades grid to the clipboard or a text file.
  • Added feature to change screen font of gradebook for custom viewing.
  • Added ability to scroll back and forth through subjects from within the gradebook.
  • Various minor bug fixes and cosmetic changes, e.g., printing document name now displays in Print Monitor.

Version 6.2

  • Removed the End Average method from the program. Weighting achieves the same result, and then some.
  • Interim progress reporting improved for subjects that use the Cumulative grading method.
  • Progress reports can break down subjects by assignment type and subject category.
  • Every score can now have an individual note attached to it.
  • Improved student picture's ability to stay on top of all windows.
  • Improved updating of grades after weighting is changed.
  • Final grades can be displayed with decimals, with the number of decimal points configurable.
  • Minor formatting improvements on progress reports.
  • Added the ability to rearrange assignment display order in the gradebook.

Version 6.1

  • Added a student picture feature. You can save a picture for each student record. This is helpful for student recognition at the beginning of the year, especially if you see many different groups of students.
  • Added the ability to import one seating chart into another.
  • Improved student filtering capabilities.
  • Improved backup flexibility. Multiple backups of the same data are automatically renamed.
  • Various minor cosmetic and operational fixes.

Version 6.0

  • Grade Point has undergone a major rewrite in order to switch to a database model of data storage. Users of older versions won't have any trouble recognizing the program. The look and layout are similar to past versions, but many features are enhanced, and the path is now more open to features planned for future versions.
  • Streamlined the registration process and ability to register Grade Point on multiple machines.
  • Streamlined the data backup process.
  • Streamline the ability to copy data from one grading period to another.
  • Implemented subject categories and subject category weighting. (Formerly, Grade Point only had assignment types and assignment type weighting.)
  • Improved the overall stability of the program. Implemented many safeguards that make it harder than ever to crash Grade Point.
  • Improved the help functions within the program. Help is much more comprehensive than ever. In addition to main help topics, nearly every control has a pop-up topic available.
  • Provided a user manual in electronic format (Adobe Acrobat PDF). Manual can be read on the computer or printed by the user.

Version 5.8

  • SMTP Lightweight e-mail is incorporated into the Transport backup facility so users can send a set of data to Paper Trail Software if needed for debugging. (Can also be used as a lightweight e-mail program to sent an e-mail message to anyone.)
  • Added a filter to the student selection list when preparing progress reports. It is now possible to display all subscribed students, or display only students subscribed for a particular publishing method: print, e-mail, or web.
  • Bug fix. If no students appeared in the student selection list for progress reports and the All button was clicked, a blank set of reports would be displayed. This caused a List Index error.
  • Bug fix. The Modify button would not become enabled when editing the subjects to which a student is assigned.
