Entering Maintenance Schedules
Top  Previous  Next

The Maintenance Schedule screen is at the heart of the Keep Up program. Scheduled maintenance, and the prospect of being notified of upcoming scheduled maintenance tasks are what motivated me to write this program. To record scheduled maintenance items:

·Select the Maintenance Schedule button from the button bar at the top of the window.
·Using your owner's manual as a reference, use the grid to enter maintenance task information. Use the database navigator (explained in the topic Database Controls) to create additional records as needed.

Task Intervals

Task intervals can be specified as distance or as a number of days. Use Task Interval in Miles to enter mileage intervals that tasks should be performed. (If the vehicle's preferences are set to use kilometers or hours run instead of miles, this column's heading will change to reflect the system being used.) Use Task Interval in Days to enter the number of days that should elapse before a task should be performed. If a task has entries for both miles and days, the maintenance item will appear on the task report when either condition applies.

Notification Margins

Use Notification Margin Miles and Notification Margin Days to specify how far in advance you would like tasks to appear on the task report before they are actually due. (The Notification Margin Miles heading will change to reflect the measurement system being used.) If there are no entries in these columns, then the entries used in the margins fields of the vehicle's preferences are used as the defaults.

Recording Completed Tasks

Click the Record button to create a record of having performed a task. The Completed Task window will open. When you record a maintenance task, an alarm is created based on the task interval, the mileage at which the task is completed, and the days interval if available. When Keep Up calculates that the mileage (or date if applicable) is approaching that of the alarm, you will be notified--provided notifications are turned on in preferences. If you use the Odometer Correction feature, the distance for the newly created task will be adjusted to accurately reflect the desired interval.

Viewing a Task's History

Click the History button to view a history of when a given task has been performed. The Task History window will open.
