Creating a Database
Top  Previous  Next

Keep Up comes with a sample database that it automatically uses. You could modify the information in this database to suit your vehicles. However, after you have played with the sample database, it is probably better to create a new database from scratch, in a location where it will be easier to perform a backup of your data.

To create a new database, select New from the File menu. You will be prompted right away to save your new database, as shown in the file save dialog below. You can simply enter a name for your database in the File name space and click the Save button. After clicking Save, your new database will be opened, and the program will display the main window.

Notes About Database Locations

·When you create a new database, the save as dialog box automatically opens to a folder named My KeepUp, which is inside My Documents.
·You can only create one database within a given folder. If you plan to only have one database, My KeepUp is an appropriate place to save it. If you plan to have several different databases, e.g., one for personal vehicles, one for business vehicles, you should create a separate folder for each database within the My KeepUp folder.
·You do not have to use the My KeepUp folder for your database(s). It is simply a convenient default that the program offers you.
·You should not use your KeepUp data location to store files created by other programs, nor should you use any other program to open or modify any of the files contained there. A KeepUp database is a collection of at least 40 related files that work together to present data in the program.
